There are two recommended approaches to a structural condition assessment:

A) Preliminary Assessment – A visual walk-thru and preliminary analysis for estimating the structural adequacy of the existing structure and if needed, establishing the need for a Detailed Assessment.

B) Detailed Assessment – A definitive evaluation of the structure (ascertain sizes, dimensions and the quality of the members) and more detailed analysis of the structure in order to increase the reliability of the investigative report and recommendations.
